Dr. Julia Kramer (she/her)
Co-Founder
As a co-founder and co-owner of Reflex Design Collective, Julia Kramer was instrumental to envisioning and establishing our organization from the very beginning. Before "Reflex Design Collective" was an organization, it was a working group of then-graduate students at the University of California, Berkeley with a shared interest in designing for social justice. In the years since Reflex's founding, Julia has enjoyed her role in collaborating with our growing collective to build the foundation for an equitable and co-creative design organization. In December 2022, Julia left her role as co-owner of Reflex to focus on her academic research as a professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan.
Below is Julia's bio from her time at Reflex:
Julia Kramer is an equity designer and researcher. She investigates human-centered design thinking methods and practices, and seeks to understand how design can be applied to address issues of global social equity. In addition to her work at Reflex, Julia conducts research at the intersection of design and sexual and reproductive health access. Julia holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and a masters degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley.
